Congratulations to Sami Imeri who set the new 50-59 Age Group, Drafting record during this attempt. He was unfortunately hit by a car on his 13th day (he’s OK!) but was unable to continue riding.
Sami also broke the existing HWMR (7 day TT) record during his first 7 day of this attempt: 2429.98 Km
Here is his Ride Report:
This is a short description of my attempt:
“I started my attempt for the highest monthly mileage record (HMMR) the 3rd of June 2023. I was riding from Douvaine in France to Aigle in Switzerland (where stands the UCI headquarters). Riding along the beautiful Lake Geneva. Everything went pretty well until the 13th day, when I was hit by a car in Geneva. The damages were not too bad fortunately but my ACL was touched. I had to stop my attempt a few days after that because of my knee. I really enjoyed every day of riding and I can’t wait to be back on my bike again!
Next year I’ll be going for the record. I’m starting training again soon and I’m looking forward to giving you more information about the date and place. From the bottom of my heart, I want to express my deepest gratitude to my loving family, supportive friend, dedicated Larry, and my exceptional coach Jonathan for being instrumental in my athletic journey and helping me achieve my goals”
Best regards,
Sami Imeri
