On March 11, 2025, in the city of Sebring, Florida, an event took place that will raise the voice of  inclusion in sports for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities. Raúl Villalba, a cyclist  with a visual impairment, and Ricardo Paván, president of the Growing for Inclusion foundation,  joined together in a complex challenge: to set multiple WUCA world records in 24 hours.

At 8 a.m., at the starting line of a 3.6-mile circuit, Raúl and Ricardo, accompanied by their  dedicated team of six, prepared for a challenge that went beyond the physical. From the first  laps, the wind, fierce and challenging, blew strongly as fast as 12 miles per hour, as if nature  itself were trying to test them. However, the determination of Raúl and Ricardo was  unbreakable; the previous year, inclement weather had forced them to abandon, but this time,  nothing would stop them.

Riding a tandem bike requires a special connection, a synchronization of body and soul. As night  fell, the wind eased, but the cold became a formidable adversary. Temperatures dropped to  levels that neither the team nor the cyclists had anticipated. Raúl and Ricardo, facing true  suffering, pedaled at 42 degrees Fahrenheit. In that dark moment, the ingenuity and solidarity  of their team shone through, helping Raúl overcome the cold crisis, reaffirming that unity is  strength.

At 5:00 a.m., exhaustion loomed, and the cyclists took a brief 5-minute break, a moment to  recharge and prepare for the final hours. With dawn painting the sky with hope and joy, every  passing minute brought them closer to their goal… to their dream.

As the sun emerged in all its glory, the atmosphere filled with euphoria. At 8:01 a.m., Raúl and  Ricardo crossed the finish line, having covered the astounding distance of 408.64 miles after 24  uninterrupted hours on the tandem bike. This was not only a milestone for them but for all  those who believe in the importance of inclusion and personal achievement.

This achievement not only celebrated the records set but also sent a direct message to the  world: when the right support is provided, people with disabilities can achieve the impossible.  Raúl, Ricardo, and their team demonstrated that the strength of the human spirit can break  barriers and leave an indelible mark on history.
