Rider’s Narrative Summary
Record Attempt: Kanyakumari to Srinagar (South to North India)
Name of Rider: Srujal Pravin Kohale
Start Date and Time: 6 October 2025, 06:02 a.m.
Start Location:– Cape Comorin, Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu
Conditions:
The weather at the start was warm and humid with light coastal winds. As the journey progressed northward, conditions varied drastically — from the hot plains of Tamil Nadu and Telangana to the dry, windy stretches of Madhya Pradesh, and finally the cold mountain air of Jammu & Kashmir. Headwinds were common in central India during daytime, while temperatures dropped sharply after entering North India.
Reason for the Record Attempt:
My dream was to inspire young riders and prove that age is never a limit to endurance. I wanted to become the youngest and the first cyclist to complete the South-to-North India route and to spread the message of determination, discipline, and love for nature through cycling. This was not just a record attempt, but a personal journey of growth, resilience, and self-belief.
Equipment Used:
• Bicycle: Pinarello Paris 51.5 with Shimano 105 2×12 groupset road bike.
• Accessories: Helmet, GPS cycle-computer (Garmin Edge 1040), front and rear lights, heart rate monitor (Garmin HRM Dual), and power meter (Favero Assioma Duo).
Nutrition (Food & Drink):
I followed a high-carb, high-electrolyte diet. Regular hydration was maintained using electrolyte mixes and water. I consumed bananas, peanut butter sandwiches, energy gels, dry fruits, and rice meals during stops. Every few hours, I had small portions of fruits and protein snacks to maintain steady energy levels.
Best Part:
Crossing different states, landscapes, and cultures within one continuous ride was the most beautiful experience. The feeling of entering Jammu & Kashmir after days of effort — surrounded by mountains and cool wind — was truly emotional and unforgettable.
Hardest Part:
The hardest section was through Tamil Nadu where temperature peaked during the day above 40°C. After entering Madhya Pradesh, temperatures dropped suddenly, and in Hyderabad and Jammu & Kashmir I had to cycle through dense traffic. Long headwinds and sleep deprivation during night sections tested both mental and physical endurance. Climbing towards Srinagar after days of fatigue was also extremely challenging.
Unusual or Memorable Moments:
At Nagpur, my family met me on the 7th day which gave me strength to move ahead. In the last 75 km, I found a different kind of energy which boosted me to cycle as fast as I have ever ridden. Near Jammu & Kashmir, I met many military personnel who encouraged me and gave wishes for my ride ahead. I also witnessed many vehicles with damaged bodies due to accidents on the route, which reminded me to stay alert and ride safely following all guidelines.
Embedded Records (Completed as Part of the Same Attempt):
In addition to the overall Kanyakumari → Srinagar record attempt, the following embedded records were also covered within the same verified route and timing:
- Kanyakumari → Hyderabad
- Hyderabad → Nagpur
- Nagpur → Ludhiana
- Ludhiana → Srinagar
Each embedded segment was recorded and verified with continuous GPS data, adhering to WUCA rules for intermediate (embedded) records within a single point-to-point ultra-distance attempt.
Finish Location:
Srinagar – Clock Tower (Main Market), Lal Chowk, Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir.
Finish Time: 18 October 2025, 06:24 p.m.
