The 24H Montello is the first Ultra after the tragic death of Pawel Talaga, friend and Polish cyclist, who died in a road accident during the Race Across Italy.
We are all cyclists, both participants and organisers, and we are aware of the risks to which the road exposes us… but when this happens it leaves us all with a sense of emptiness and frustration, and it is not easy to carry on.
But it is now time to go ahead ….
The Ultracycling is a different kind of cycling, where the fatigue, sweat and loneliness of the long distance let you feel every cyclist you meet like a brother, where everyone is part of a large worldwide community, which, like a family, comes together at major events but is able to gather around even more in sorrow.
This is why the 24H of Montello will start…
to gather even more closely around Anna, Pawel’s wife, around Paolo Laureti and Race Across Italy, doing what you might say….
doing what Pawel loved to do: RIDING
During the race we will remember together our friend
#38 Pawel Talaga.
To qualifying for the RAAM you have to complete:
17,29 loop (579,363 Km) for the man;
16,130 loop (539,130 Km), for the woman and the Over 60 category
From an idea of Fabio Biasiolo, a historical name of Italian and international ultracycling, in the heart of Montello, the 33.5km route winds for 6, 12, or 24 hours.
