Process to Set a Record

Any WUCA member is eligible to establish or challenge an ultra cycling record according to established rules.

There is a fee to register for a record attempt. Please click here to review fees and submit an entry.

There are both officiated (supported) , and Self-Supported types of records.

Both of these types apply to all the possible record categories (record type, gender, age, bike type, gearing, venue, solo, or team configuration), however the way evidence is gathered, saved, and reported back as attempt documentation is vastly different.

Officiated record attempts must must have at least one WUCA official, and one support crew at all times. A support vehicle must also be used for any attempt on a public road or an outdoor track when the rider cannot be seen from one location. An WUCA official must be present at all times during an “officiated”  cycling record attempt. The official must be an active WUCA member and approved by the Records chair (Contact Records Team). They must join WUCA as an official, and take a short on-line test for the type of record they will be officiating for, and sign 2 waivers.

Self-Supported record attempts are much harder as the rider is not allowed any support from anyone that is not readily available (publicly) for any other rider attempting the same attempt. This means no help from friends or family, even when off the bike.

for any cycling record attempt. No unsupported efforts will be recognized by the WUCA.

For all possible categories see the “Record Certification and Categories” section in this Rules Document
