John Howard
wendy22023-04-03T19:35:31-07:00“John Howard was a lot better rider than me. The only way I could win was to have better organization and try to make up time when the weather conditions were bad.” — Lon Haldeman Pick a goal: Ironman Triathlon World Champion. U.S. National Cycling Team member. USCF and NORBA Elite and Masters National Champion. UCI World Championship Medallist. A lifetime of bragging rights accompanies any one of those feats. wendy22023-04-03T19:35:31-07:00“I would not have become an ultra cyclist had it not been for the great events Dave organized. Seana Hogan
wendy22023-04-03T19:35:31-07:00“She took the sport seriously, trained and prepared professionally, and raced with the intensity deserving our great race.” Incredible, simply incredible. That’s the only way to describe what Seana Hogan has accomplished in ultra racing. She’s won RAAM a jaw dropping six times! (1992, ’93, ’94, ’95, ’97, ’98) She holds the women’s transcontinental record, the overall San Francisco to LA record, the overall Seattle to San Diego record as well as the Trans-California (N-S) record. Seana was the overall winner of the Furnace Creek 508 in ’95. She’s no stranger to the track either. She also holds the 12 [...]

Desert Camp, 2004 (Lulu Weschler photo) Has it been 20 years already? It seems not too long ago that Lon Haldeman was the catalyst for ultra distance bicycle racing. We remember watching those ABC broadcasts of the early RAAMs and seeing Lon pedal strong and steady, while being interviewed from the open door of a moving van by a “not-believing-what-I’m-seeing”, Jim Lampley. Lon’s achievements in RAAM [...]
