A Message From the President
Good day to one and all.
Whether you are ending your season, as we are in Europe and North America, or continuing your season in Asia and Oceania, we hope you are performing, growing in your sport, and making new friends. This has certainly been the case at WUCA.
It has been a successful year in the growth of our continental championship series, over all distances – Ultra, 12 and 24-hrs.
The unsupported category in the Ultra-series is now established, which is something we hope to build on each year.
Our expansion into Asia and other locations is gathering momentum, adding fuel to our mission to provide opportunity for ultra-cycling membership regardless of location.
Our World Championship and World Cup series has been a tremendous boost to the elite of our sport, with outstanding and inspiring performances being delivered.
The interest from organisers who are seeking to host championship events confirms that we are on the correct path. We are grateful to both the partnerships and passion they are bringing to the table.
I want to personally thank YOU, the race organisers for all that you do to ensure our sport has the highest calibrej of races to choose from.
The Records department at WUCA, remains the bread and butter of the organisation. Our partnership with the Guinness World Record organisation has gone from strength to strength. This has been a year where we have seen some exceptional records, and it is not over yet.
To the people and businesses who supply their services, the volunteers who donate their time, the race marshals who help deliver safe events, and others who donate to our sport in countless ways – thank you.
Our continued growth requires much input and energy from the WUCA Board of Directors. Due to years served, we have a number of positions which will become vacant in the short term.
If you have energy, skill, and vision for our sport, we would like to hear from you!
To be eligible to sit on the Board, you must be, and have been, a WUCA member for the past two years .
If interested, please submit your name and personal qualifications in no more than 200 words to marc.poland@snet.net.
Nominations must be in by December 9th, 2024.
If you would like to vote for these new Board members you must be a current member of WUCA so now is a great time to renew!
If a Board position is not for you but you would like to volunteer, please reach out to any current board member.
Finally, we are at a point where we will be to address both design and function issues with our website. From Jan 1st 2025 you will start to see the website take on a new look with a focus on ease of navigation.
As we move forward, lets always keep the members of our community who will not be moving forward with us into 2025. Many will be sadly missed.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has assisted me in my role as President of the Board to move WUCA and the sport forward during this year . It has been my honour to have had the opportunity to put something back into the sport which has given me so much.
