There are race formats that welcome solo riders as well as two\, four\, or eight person relay teams. Solo racers must qualify by performance in at least one ‘RAAM Qualifier’ event. Qualification standards do not apply to relay teams. RAAM does require a support crew and can not be raced in an unsupported format. For those interested in a shorter\, but still very demanding event\, consider the Race Across the West\, or RAW\, which covers the first ~1\,000 miles of the same course\, finishing in Durango\, Colorado.
